Janet Conner

Janet Conner discovered the map of Spiritual Geography the hard way--and the only way it could be discovered--crawling on her hands and knees through a brutal divorce. She is the author of the seven travel guides in the Spiritual Geography series, a national columnist on practical spirituality to heal the broken heart for ReligionAndSpirituality.com, and a popular speaker.
Janet has what may appear to be an unusual background for a spiritual writer. After completing a BS at Marquette University in Speech Pathology, she earned an MA from Northwestern University in Education of the Deaf. She taught the deaf  for the first decade of her professional life. In the early eighties, she joined CNN where she created CNN’s entry level recruitment program. In 1984, she moved to Florida and became a professional recruiter for an international search firm. In 1995, she formed her own consulting firm, developing competency-based recruitment and selection systems.

In the early nineties, Janet began delving into spiritual subjects and taking spiritual classes. She was particularly interested in prayer—all kinds of prayer—and bought every book on prayer she could find. As she read, she began experimenting with her own prayers. Although she was interested in spiritual matters, Janet did not set out to become a spiritual writer. She thought she was going to be a successful consultant. (The universe
apparently had other plans.) The explosion of her marriage imploded her career as well, and propelled her down the road that became Spiritual Geography. Today, Janet is an expert on the power of sacred journaling, personal prayer, and forgiveness to heal your heart and transform your world.

In grateful appreciation for the gifts she has been given, Janet tithes ten percent of earnings to her spiritual sources. She lives in Ozona, Florida with her teenage son, and life is very, very good.

The Rest of the Team

Dear God & Company is much more than one person. It is a strong and flexible network of top-notch professionals working together to create compelling—and truly helpful—spiritual products and services. These creative hearts and minds bring Spiritual Geography to life.

Jim Lennon, Lennon Media, Tampa, Florida

Jim designed the content and back cover of the Spiritual Geography books. Without Jim, Spiritual Geography would not—could not—be what it is. The look and feel of the Spiritual Geography books are completely his doing. No one knows more about graphics and print production. And no one is more fun to work with.

Susan Taylor Lennon, Tampa, Florida

Susan reads and edits every word in the Spiritual Geography series. Susan does flawless work. Nothing gets past her. Susan is a rare artist: equally right and left brain. She is not only a meticulous editor; she is the director of the dance program at the University of Tampa. Not many people can wear those hats!

Ellen Berry, Roving Arts, Palm Harbor, Florida

Ellen took Janet’s original, rudimentary, hand drawing of the map and converted it painstakingly into the powerful graphic you see today. She also designed the icons and visa stamps from Janet’s description of the spiritual transition that occurs in a prayer or country. Sometimes things got lost in the translation and the results were comical. Most of the time, however, Ellen was dead on.

Jamie Martin, Partners Marketing Group, Atlanta, Georgia

Jamie is the genius behind the website. If it is an informative, beneficial, and rich experience, it is because of Jamie and his team. They re-created the map in web-friendly graphics, designed every inch of the site, researched e-commerce, and created snappy web marketing. All the while, Jamie patiently—very patiently—explained the what, why, and how of the interactive world to Janet. No wonder Jamie’s license plate says “Interactive”!

Dan Eggers, Partners Marketing Group, Atlanta, Georgia

Dan and his team created all the visual art that brings Spiritual Geography books and collateral to life. They created the elegant front book cover design, the Spiritual Geography logo, and—everyone’s favorite: Gabriel, the imprint’s insignia.

Sheridan Books, Ann Arbor, Michigan

If you’ve got one of the seven travel guides in the Spiritual Geography series, you’re holding the work of Sheridan Books, the nation’s premier short and medium run book printing, fulfillment, and distribution company. That’s what their literature says and—guess what—it’s true!

SBI, Ann Arbor, Michigan

When you order Spiritual Geography products online, the team at SBI pick it, pack it, and ship it to you quickly and carefully. They are Dear God & Company’s right hand. Thank God for SBI!
