The first question all pilgrims ask when they see the map is, “Where am I?” This interactive Mini-Locator was designed to help you answer that question. Full-length locators, available in each of the seven books of Spiritual Geography, list a full range of experiences that typically occur traveling through that country. For this introductory Mini-Locator, three experiences that capture the essence of the journey through each country have been selected. Travel Advisory Do not select a statement you think you should be experiencing or skip a statement that describes something you are experiencing. The Locator can only help you identify your location on the map if you are honest with yourself. The truth is: You are where you are, and where you are is good. |
Directions: As you read each of the 21 statements, click on one of three choices: Yes, I am experiencing this strongly right now. Skip for now. I'm not deeply immersed in this experience at this moment. No, I am not having this experience.
Choose the response that most closely aligns with what is happening in your life right now. If you are unsure, select “Skip for now.” For example, if you think you are almost finished with an experience or just beginning it, select “Skip for now.” The object is to determine which country or countries you are currently traveling through, so only mark “Yes” for the statements that describe feelings and experiences you are having right now. Start the Interactive Locator. When you select a statement, the country where that experience typically occurs will brighten slightly. Each time you select a statement from a country, that country will get brighter. If you select all three statements that apply to a country, that country will brighten to its full color. When you are finished, look at the map. What is it telling you? Are you clearly in one country? Two? Partially in several? Don’t be surprised to discover that you are in more than one country at the same time. Often one country will be fully bright and the surrounding countries partially bright. This is normal because your journey through Spiritual Geography is not purely linear. You do not have to complete one country before beginning another. Most pilgrims discover that, although they travel in a fairly logical progression gradually moving further and further east from their starting point in Betrayal, they do not travel in a straight line. More often, pilgrims find themselves backtracking to re-explore a specific experience in a country or leaping ahead to taste the future. The journey is not static. Your location will change based on your experiences and the depth of your spiritual exploration. Once the mini-locator has helped you identify where you are, click on that country or countries to read excerpts from the Spiritual Geography travel guide for that country. You can get your own travel guide in the Travel Shop. |
